Transform everyday objects into textile treasures.
EIGHT WEEKS TUTOR ENGAGEMENT | LIFETIME ACCESS | PRIVATE ONLINE COMMUNITY | SELF-PACED
I have learnt so much about myself and my capabilities as a new artist while working through this course – collage has always been a challenge for me so this course has made a huge impact on my artistic practice – I am changing my thinking moving on from feeling challenged and now thinking about the process of recreating in textile - in this way has made creating something of meaning very rewarding.
- Catherine B.
Before starting this course, I hadn't realised how important everyday items are as both a reflection of those I love and of my own journey through life. Sharing the reflections and explorations of the other course participants was a true highlight and I am so grateful for their honesty and openness. We learned and discovered together. Anne's gentle guidance helped keep us in track and was a great source of inspiration.
- Lorell M.
I was feeling "stuck" after not making any art for over a year, and this course gave me motivation and inspiration to get out of the rut. I found myself looking for ideas in places I wouldn't normally look, which took me in a different direction to my usual. I have learned lots as a result of trying new things, and from looking at others' work and seeing their interpretations of the projects.
- Joanna L.
If you value clear instructions on “how to. . .” and good examples, this course is a terrific fit for you. Anne teaches a number of processes that can lead you to ways to work productively, to add personal touches, and to build on skills. Anne’s own work is impressive and inspirational, and she is a calm and reassuring teacher.
- Janet Shier
I am grateful for the personal journey this course has taken me on, its encouraged me to bring together many of my skills and learn new ones, whilst expressing my ideas in my own meaningful way.
- Lou T.
Every artist has a story to tell.
But to tell it well, sometimes you need a little help...
Do you:
-
Long to create meaningful and personal art?
-
Struggle to stay focused and find inspiration?
-
Second-guess what would make a good ‘story’ to tell?
-
Feel unsure how to incorporate treasured items into your artwork?
Finding your unique voice as an artist can be challenging in a world of fast-paced visual stimulation. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.
Imagine discovering the hidden gems in your everyday objects and transforming them into compelling textile masterpieces by learning to look at the details, refine your ideas, and tell your unique story through fabric and thread.
... Now you can!
In Collections and Cloth, Anne Kelly will show you how the smallest objects can ignite the biggest ideas.
See the details, shape your ideas, and stitch your story.
My art comes to life when I find inspiration in the everyday objects around me. It's about seeing the potential in the little things and transforming them into something truly special.
- Anne Kelly
This course is perfect for textile art lovers eager to...

Tell your story
Learn Anne’s signature stitching techniques to build layered, detailed pieces that hold your story at their core.

Refine your ideas

By the end of your Collections and Cloth course, you’ll have access to a comprehensive library of textile techniques, and an abundance of ways to turn your collections into meaningful textile art!

Create at your own pace.
The problem with a live class is that you are limited by time. But Anne’s course invites you to slow down, experiment and enjoy the process of making. With lifetime access, you’ll have the freedom to revisit techniques, refine your ideas and create at your own pace – all within a supportive, structured environment.
Through guided exercises and a nurturing community, you’ll build confidence in your artistic voice and learn how to tell your story through textile art. Whether you’re just starting out or deepening your practice, Anne’s expert guidance will help you create meaningful, personal work.
Chapter 1: Looking at historical collections
In this chapter, you'll explore:
- Visiting cultural hubs: Learn how to effectively plan and conduct visits to museums and cultural centres, capturing inspiration from their collections.
- Collecting visual notes: Discover techniques for taking visual notes and sketches
that will serve as valuable references for your textile art projects. - Analysing collections: Understand how to identify and focus on specific details
within collections that can ignite your creativity. - By the end of this chapter, you will be well-equipped to start your projects with a fresh perspective and a wealth of inspiration.
Chapter 2: Identifying your collections
Anne will demonstrate how to harness the power of your objects to create inspiring works of art. This chapter focuses on organising your collections, using observational drawing to connect thought and observation, and starting your project planning.
Anne will showcase examples of her own works, such as a suitcase and a house collage, to illustrate the techniques covered in the course. You will learn the importance of themes and how to start by drawing to loosen up and connect with your materials.
By the end of this chapter, you will have a compiled collection of materials, objects, and drawings to begin planning your project.
Chapter 3: Developing a theme
In Chapter 3, you are guided through the process of organising your thoughts and ideas using mood boards, mind maps, and idea trees. These tools are invaluable for planning and arranging your thoughts, providing a visual reference that can spark new ideas and help refine your project as it progresses.
Anne will demonstrate how to create a mood board based on her sample collections, helping you to select and arrange the most important aspects of your own collections. By the end of this chapter, you will have compiled a mood board or mind map that serves as a foundation for your project planning.
Chapter 4: House stories
You'll create a mixed-media layered textile piece using elements from your collections. You will also make a small textile collage that serves as a sampler, allowing you to experiment with the techniques and methods that will be used later in the course for paper collages.
In this chapter, you will explore fabric background, create a paper pattern, architectural stitching, background stitching, embellishing, stitching techniques, and final details.
Chapter 5: Printing
In this chapter, you'll learn how to work with easy print blocks, transfer your designs, and print on fabric and paper. This versatile technique allows you to work in small spaces and use minimal materials. Whether you incorporate printing into one or both projects, you'll find it a valuable and enjoyable addition to your creative toolkit.
Chapter 6: Mixed media suitcase
Chapter 7: Holding memories
This chapter will guide you through designing, assembling, and embellishing your folding book, creating a unique and personal narrative that reflects your creativity and experiences.
BONUS: Textile portraits
You will learn how to effectively use photo transfer techniques, free motion stitching, and fabric applique to create a portrait that captures the essence of your subject. This chapter emphasizes creativity, personal expression, and the emotional connection we can convey through textile art. By the end of this chapter, you will have a unique and personalised portrait that combines artistic skill with heartfelt sentiment.

I'm really enjoying the course so far. I like anne's calm and clear teaching style and the way the action tasks are framed as questions to encourage you to think about how to develop your work in your own way.
- Kate R.
Prior to starting the course I found myself lacking direction in my work. This course has given me so many ideas and I look forward to exploring them in greater depth. The course is both challenging and inspirational. It teaches delightful new techniques to explore and develop in your own individual style.
- Margaret E.
Having dabbled over the years into many techniques I wanted to move on and create my own work. This course gave me the courage and more techniques to produce this.
- Margaret E.
Up until this point, my subject matter has been mostly landscapes and florals. This course helped me to create different pieces with new subjects, using my collections and memories. I also have always stayed away from portraits and even though I have not done any yet, I plan on trying my hand at portraiture next. This class has taken me out of my comfort zone into a place full of new ideas and inspiration.

This course was so instrumental in helping me to reminisce the good times with the special people in my life through the collections we gathered. Anne's course was so fulfilling in the way she presented her wide range of techniques and is so valuable for textile artists to extend their skills in ways that they might not imagine.
- Pam F.

How Lou Found Her Confidence (and Community) Through Stitch
Lou Threapleton always loved making – from hand-stitched dresses to building an allotment garden. But for years, she struggled to see herself as an artist.
That changed when she discovered Collections and Cloth with Anne Kelly. Through the course Lou expanded her practice, embraced process-led work, and found the courage to share her art with others.
In this Student Success Story, Lou shares how sketchbooks, stitch, and community helped her move from quiet creativity to exhibiting in galleries and opening her own studio.

Through this course I've learned new skills and I've been inspired to try different things...
Working alongside the other students has been lovely and reminded me how good community is for keeping the motivation going. I was very unsure about submitting my work to the exhibition. The encouragement from Anne and the Take Two team for everyone to join in, and the enthusiasm of other group members, has spurred me on to do so.

Hello, I'm Anne Kelly!
My artistic journey began with traditional art training, delving into photography, printmaking, and painting. Despite this foundation, it was the everyday objects - shells, toys, fabrics - that truly sparked my creativity and helped me find my authentic voice.
I have spent years transforming what many may consider clutter into meaningful textile masterpieces, focusing on the details that often go unnoticed. My approach is about looking deeply, organising thoughtfully, and creating art that reflects who you are.
Join me as we explore, create, and connect, turning your treasured collections into beautiful works of fibre art. I look forward to sharing this creative journey with you and seeing how your story unfolds through fabric and thread.

I would highly recommend this wonderfully structured course to everybody.
As a teacher Eva is very generous with her demonstrations making learning new skills very easy and stress-free. The accessibility of materials and the course work notes is also outstanding and the video modules are amazing.
- Megan Edwards
I loved Eva's reflective style of teaching.
It encouraged me to let go and be guided by my feelings as I experimented with the various mixed media techniques. This is a course for anyone looking to breathe new life into their art practices. It will encourage them to tune into their feelings and potentially lead them in new and exciting directions.
- Carmen Manning

You will learn a lot of new things.
It’s been an absolute treat to experience the abundance of materials and techniques that Eva has shared with us in her thoughtful and generous ways. I feel both more resourceful seeing the possibilities of the materials I have at hand, as well as humbled by the complexities of combining these diverse set of materialities.
- Katarina Wetter-Edman
It will impact your inner rhythm and connection to your art practice in a wonderfully positive way.
My collage work was more about geometric shapes before I enrolled on the course and it now feels like a more organic process, pulling together a variety of organic materials and shapes. If you embrace Eva’s approach it will impact your inner rhythm and connection to your art practice in a wonderfully positive way. It will encourage you to be both still and fully stimulated in the same piece of work.
- Louise Richards-Green

Take the class! You'll learn many new techniques and strategies for your art.
This course was meant to be for my transition to retirement. My work life had taken over my time and Eva's course kick started my artistic practice again after a long hiatus. Eva’s way of revealing connectivity to nature, to slow down, to observe, to create beauty was very powerful.
- Katherine Lindahl
A beautiful shift happened during this course...
Eva's approach; poetic, gentle, introspective, intuitive and melodic were the guiding qualities that inspired and motivated me to try new things with courage and grace. As a professional sewist wall art has been a therapeutic healing tool I have utilized during trauma recovery. I have fully embraced the newfound freedom in the practice of a variety mediums as I surrender to my creative self.
- Susan Fleming
Same inspiring course, fresh new name.
