Claire was the perfect guide on this journey. Out of This Earth has re-awoken the art-making portal in my brain that had been blocked for a few years prior to my taking this course, specifically due to an internal dialogue about my raw materials usage and the impact on the planet.

Claire Benn is a masterful and challenging teacher. I gave up using oil pigments and acrylics due to the plastic and toxic nature of the materials. When I learned about the use of earth pigments and soymilk as a binder, I was immediately intrigued. Painting with natural pigments and soy has opened a gateway of possibilities for using color, mark making, and stitch on fabric in unexpected, expressive ways.
